Kolbe A Reflection Assignment

Your Kolbe A results are an indication of your individual conative (i.e., instinctive) strengths.  Now that you have taken the Kolbe A Index, listen to the narrated presentation from Kolbe Corp that provides you with an interpretation of your results and write a 250-300 word response to the following prompts:

  1. What about your results is true for you?  Does anything seem false?
  2. What role might your conative strengths play in this class and/or in your chosen profession?
  3. Describe your instinctive strengths.
  4. What sort of conative profile would work best with yours for group work and collaboration?

Keep in mind that the above prompts are just suggestions. If your reflection regarding your conative profile takes you on a different path altogether, by all means go there. Ultimately, we want to see you critically and actively reflect on these results in a way that will result in a meaningful learning experience for you.

Even though this is an individual assignment (each student is turning in one reflection), as always we expect that you collaborate with your peers. The level of collaboration can take different forms:

  • Discuss with your peers their profiles and their own reflections on these.
  • Discuss differences and similarities between your profiles and theirs and the impact this might have on your future group work in this class.
  • Use your knowledge of your profile and others to form effective teams for collaboration on future CEE300 assignments.

Grading criteria include:

  • Response displays a meaningful, introspective analysis of results.
  • Response includes details, examples, etc. and avoids vagueness.
  • Response contains relevant information.

I don’t know if I am the only one but I am still confused about the reflection essay part of this assignment. I was told it was a separate assignment from entering the numbers on critviz, so where do I submit it?

The title was ambitious and the thoughts were unsolicited but IMAO.

“Kolbe A” is a type of social reform and thus a social responsibility being socially justified by those promoting a new type of cultural adaptation that should be valued and accepted as a norm.

    Social Justice
Assignment take test, then assess the validity of results, and then reflect on the experience of Kolbe. What is Kolbe ? Why are we taking a Kolbe ? Who suggested Kolbe and is it just another exam piece that can be forgotten in a week ?
First the writer will define and answer the first question about what is a Kolbe examination. Kolbe assesses conative skill sets that one may or may not be aware of and uses this information to assist in defining how you tend to naturally adhere in accomplishing most anything through an M.O. index; defined as “Modus Operandi,” which is translated as: Method of Operation.
However why would anyone want this, should be restated, as why would anyone not want to better understand self? Being self aware and being able to play on your known inherent strengths benefits yourself and others around you by reinforcing natural abilities. In addition it can assist with finding who else is going to be a “good fit”, in collaborating with by providing insight and understanding into the strengths or weaknesses a persons brings to a variety of life settings.
There is about 30 to 35 years of conducted research that goes into the practical application of this less than 20 minute self examination. That assist in mapping out the indexes’ results in identifying one’s own method of operation when performing in life. This is currently being used at ASU for at least the Engineering Business Practices class of CEE 300, and has been suggested on Kolbe’s website as a valid test for business, personal, and children 4th grade and up into adulthood.
Finally what is “Social Justice,” ? First one must understand “Social Responsibility,” which is defined as the conscience infrastructure surrounding entities be it individual or large conglomerates obligating the willing to act with intent on benefiting society by finding balance between environmental and capitalist stakeholder objectives.
“Social Justice,” pertains to the common good of the people and how they can optimize this common good into the most beneficent relationship within their ecosystems or should it be tribes, communities, nations, capitals, personal relationships, business relationships, and or any other type of communal construct.
The point is long toothed but important. Why is this not being used to identify a new standard? There are standardization bubble test for math, science, verbal skills but why not personality traits in schools or businesses? It may seem unfair to some using others psychological states to better understand each other. The psyche is a descriptor that shapes, molds, and defines our actions from begging to end. It is not anything out the ordinary to use tools as a means to an end, as this method of using new skills and tools has been going on since around 2.5 million years ago. This means the socially irresponsible thing would be to hesitate in creating an action plan that will better understand mindsets used in benefiting societies most efficiently.

Is it not social justice to find the greatest common good with the least resistance and the greatest common denominator that everyone on the planet seeks out naturally?

Thank you: Dr. Thomas Seager, Dr. Elizabeth Adams, Kolbe, and even YouTube.
Without all of this my life would be incomplete and uneventful.
